Japan: the option most Indian engineering students never hear about.
A Master’s degree in engineering, taught in English, at a top Japanese university — for around ₹3 lakh a year in tuition. Guidance from someone who runs asoftware company in Japan.

What Japan Offers That Isn't Widely Known
Four things worth knowing
- Tuition at a Japanese national university is fixed by the government at ¥535,800 a year — roughly ₹3.1 lakh . It is the same figure at the University of Tokyo, Osaka,Tohoku and Nagoya.
- You do not need Japanese for English-taught Master's programmes in STEM. JLPT is not required for these tracks.
- Funding exists at several levels — the MEXT government scholarship, the JASSO monthly stipend, and university tuition waivers. Most Indian students only ever hear about MEXT.
- Japan's working-age population is shrinking while its technology sector continues to hire. That is the reason the opportunity exists at all.
